Finding Meaning

AKYCHA

The Inuit believe that before they lived above us, the sun and moon were residents of the earth.  The sun was the beautiful you woman AKYCHA.  One night she was raped by her brother the moon.  AKYCHA grabbing a burning branch ran from the village.  Her brother followed her, also grabbing a branch but he tripped and dampened its flame in the snow.  They ran until they were transported to the sky, where they continue their endless pursuit.

AKYCHA reminds us that from adversity comes the light to see things clearly.  The insights and strength gained in dealing with the trials in our lives are what give us the confidence to stand up to life's challenges and know that we can not be destroyed.
